Acne Skin Care Routine

In this skin school post, we’ll be discussing an acne skincare routine and why hydrating and nourishing skincare products, such as those from Ella & Jo Cosmetics, maybe the key to healing your skin and reducing acne.

Ella & Jo Cosmetics is delighted to announce their UK launch in partnership with their new Beauty  Ambassador, TV presenter Cat Deeley.

A real beauty enthusiast, Cat is excited to share her skincare secrets and daily beauty routine with her  must have Ella & Jo products, for healthy and glowing skin.

Speaking on the partnership Cat says, “I loved the products as soon as I tried them and now Ella & Jo is my best shared secret! I’m a real beauty enthusiast and am excited to be working with a new and  emerging brand with the same ethos and values that I hold. I have always been interested in looking after  my skin and I am very particular about the skincare I use. Confidence for me really does start with my skin  and how I look is related to how I feel. What I love about Ella & Jo products is that my skincare routine is  so quick and easy, every day. The fact I feel better after using the products means I have more inner  confidence, which shines on the outside too. I can’t wait for you to try the products!”

Dealing with acne can be a frustrating and overwhelming experience. Acne breakouts can be caused by a variety of factors such as hormones & diet. With so many products available in the market, it's easy to fall victim to the misconception that harsh oil-stripping products are the best solution for all acne-prone skin types. However, this couldn't be further from the truth.

In this skin school post, we’ll be discussing an acne skincare routine and why hydrating and nourishing skincare products, such as those from Ella & Jo Cosmetics, maybe the key to healing your skin and reducing acne.

Acne Skin Care Routine

  1. Cleanse:

Start by cleaning your face with a gentle cleanser that won't dry out the skin. Avoid using harsh soaps or scrubs as they can aggravate and irritate the skin, leading to further breakouts. Make sure to cleanse twice a day, once in the morning and again at night before bed.

  1. Double Cleanse:

If you struggle with acne, you may want to consider double cleansing. Double cleansing is a two-step process where you first use an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and other impurities on the skin’s surface, followed by a water-based cleanser to deep clean the skin. Double cleansing ensures that all dirt and impurities are removed from your skin and can be incredibly beneficial for those with acne-prone or oily skin. To learn more about this practice, check out our blog post on double cleansing here.

  1. Tone:

Follow-up cleansing with a toner that helps to remove any remaining impurities and balance the pH levels of your skin. Toners can also reduce redness, inflammation, and irritation caused by acne breakouts.

  1. Treat:

Apply an acne treatment directly to individual blemishes or affected areas of your face to target them specifically. This will help you reduce inflammation and clear up blemishes more quickly.

  1. Moisturise:

After treating blemishes use a lightweight moisturiser to hydrate your skin without clogging pores or creating further breakouts. Look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid which attract moisture from the environment into your skin cells for all-day hydration.

  1. Protect:

Don’t forget sunscreen! Use a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every morning after applying moisturiser to protect your face from damaging UV rays which can worsen existing breakouts or cause new ones to form.

In addition to this acne skincare routine, it is also important to regularly clean makeup brushes and sponges as bacteria can accumulate on them over time, causing breakouts if used again on the face without proper sanitisation first. To keep your brushes bacteria-free, treat them with Squeaky Clean brush cleaner at least once a week before allowing them to dry completely before use again on the face or body.

Lastly, it is important to keep in mind that everyone's skin is unique and what works for one person may not work for another. If your current routine isn’t providing the results you want, don’t be afraid to switch up some of the products or consult a dermatologist for personalised skincare advice. No matter what type of skin you have, having a consistent skincare routine is the key to healthy and clear skin.

It's also important to be mindful of other lifestyle factors that may contribute to breakouts, such as diet and stress levels. Eating a balanced diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables can help keep skin clear from the inside out.
