September Reset - Let's get Back To Routine

Glow & Go: A Guide to Pre and Post Workout Skincare Reading September Reset - Let's get Back To Routine 4 minutes

We chatted to our Co-Founder Niamh about getting back into routine and she shared her tips on how to reset this September.

It's a great time of year to check in with yourself about your own skin goals - 6 month, 1 year - ill be 41 in a years time so it's important for me to reduce down redness and irritation in my skin but maintaining the skin I have and reducing down lines and wrinkles. Getting a skin consult or doing a skin quiz is brilliant at this time of year and it goes hand in hand with tidying up your skincare to see what you still have.

I will always check in with what I have at home in the bathroom in cosmetics and skincare - check them all for batch dates, open dates if the scent and the texture still feel ok - I then separate them out into three piles keep, re gift or throw and start organising.

The re gifting pile is an interesting one - I have loads of skincare that I love but it just doesn't suit my skin goals - I want anti aging results and to maintain the tone I have in my skin but I don't want to compromise my sensitivity so I can't use everything  - so those products I re gift to family and friends and they love it! My space is clutter free I see what I have and what I need and I'm using products that are working towards my skin goals.

This comes up time and again in the treatment room clients want results but want to finish what they already have at home I try to compare it to eating all the pizzas and the sweets in the house the day before you start the gym - your self sabotaging.

I feel better about myself because I'm organised, taking time for myself and know where everything is. Daily baskets or cosmetics bags should have your daily routine AM & PM, weekly your weekly masks or treatments and then monthly can be more intense treatments or something that you use when your skin is hormonal only for example or when it has a sensitive stage.

Have a think about a step you don't like e.g. Cleansing - why do you not like it? Is it because your hair gets wet? If so you might need to get a hair band, is it because you don't like cold water on your face - if so organise to have a clean mitt ready. Have a think about where you want your skin to be for your next birthday and then the small steps you have to take in your everyday to get there. Like everything things in big bursts get short term results but consistency always wins.
